When sometimes we are not home, several little doubts start to crowd our mind. Did I turn the
coffee maker or fan off? Did I activate the security system etc.
The solution to all these worries is SMART HOMES… Yes guys smart homes, where with a glance on your Smartphones you can put an end to all these worries. Smart home is a concept where any of your electrical appliance can be connected to your mobile phone and can be controlled from it no matter how far away we are from home, at your mere command, Isn’t that fascinating in itself. It can be in form of Voice command, remote control, tablet or smartphone
application.Many popularly used applications are for lighting, homes security, home theatre and thermostat regulations.
Once this concept of smart homes or such technologies was saved for tech savvy and rich status holder but nowadays smart homes or we can say home automation is becoming mere regular and a common feature among household appliances. We can say that these products are finally maturing into a full blown consumer trend. Sales of home automation was valued at
USD 39.93 lion 2016 and is expected to reach USD 79.57 billion by 2022 [Source: marketsandmarkets] We can say that its idea came from success of smart phones and gadgets. X10, Insteon, Zig Bec and Z-Wave are some of organisations which provide only fundamental technology such as protocols for smart home communication. They have created alliance with electronics manufacturers who actually build the end user device, for starters, we can think of the routine and most basic tasks of our routine life we do and automate them, then we could begin with lighting control kit and add on security devices later. If you are looking such professionals, check if they have CEA-compTIA certification which is a result between Consumers electronic Association(CEA) and computing technology industry association(CompTIA) which is a non profit trade association issuing professional certificates for
Information technology industry. It represents proficiency in maintaining and
installing-troubleshooting of any networking equipments for home.
The cost of smart homes depend upon how smart a home is. For example one builder may estimate that his client may spend between $10,000 to $250,000 for sophisticated systems.
Some example of smart home product and their functions are cameras that will track home’s exterior despite being pitch black outside, LEd lights, color and brightness can be controlled by smartphone, caution sensors sending alert on motion around house which would tell difference
between pets and burglars, smartphone integration may let you turn off appliances from your mobile, auto alert in case anything goes wrong like fire , gas leakage etc.
This hierarchy started from way back 1975, when a scot company designed X10. It allowed electronic and compatible products to communicate to each other via existing electrical wires at home.
It was dedsigned to perform all commands in less than a second but had its own limitations. “Noisy lines” was one of them .

home automation are Zib Bce and Zwave, both of these are mesh networks, which means the message has more than one means to reach the destination.
This is the future which is currently in the process of spreading out and effecting the mindset of consumers. This system provide exactly what a busy person living in the hustle bustle of his fast moving life wants, comfort, reassurance, speed, ease of work and many more such perks which can be listed here.
Increasing flat culture in cities is also one of the main reason in the increased use of such smart devices which would not only provide us with some ease but also a standard of living.
